I'm super excited to be announcing my brand new theatre show. The Subliminalist which takes to the stage on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th June 2010 at the Live Theatre, Newcastle.

Haiti in Your Heart?

Hello there - it's rare that I talk about world affairs nevermind blog about them but I really am touched by the scenes we are seeing on the television of those poor children in Haiti. Struggling to cope with every day survival.

You know I'm a man of action. I don't like to sit just thinking. I do stuff.

It's 2010. So I'm donating 10% of every booking we take this month to the kids in Haiti. Yep. I've never done anything like this before. No the show doesn't need to take place in February, just the booking.

So at the end of the month I'll write a cheque out and send it to the Haiti appeal on your behalf.

If you want to have a great time at the same time as doing your bit to help out, do let me know and feel free to tell others about this too by tweeting it and sending links through the usual means :)

Where Did I Put My Snowman's Carrot?

Waking up this morning and peering out of the window everything was covered in a 7-inch blanket of snow. Of course

I am wanting to keep you with me over this holiday season so just had to send you this picture to show you our view this morning.

Only moments later were we bound to the garden to make the 'traditional' snowman. With a good ol' carrot for a nose and Quality Street for eyes.

Living the rock 'n' roll lifestyle the way I do - a lot of people ask how I get so much done. It's all about setting goals. I like to be an over achiever. Get more done than anyone else I know. That's why when my friend Gary asked if I wanted to be affiliated with his Got Resolutions programme I knew that I had to share this stuff with you.

It's the season for entertaining. As you know I'm a huge fan of live performance and theatre. Whilst in London yesterday I entertained a lovely bunch of people with my mind-stuff. My writer buddy Alex arranged tickets to see an improvised musical that was nothing short of incredible (running weekly on Thursday nights, late at the Leicester Square Theatre) and I get home to see marketing genius Ken Day has spotted some more talent. It's not often I get serious. Today is THAT day of the year. It's been a phenomenal 2009 hasn't it? So much has happened and I've learned a ton. Have had some of the best times of my life. Met some of the most incredible and inspiring people. So thank you for being part of it. For being involved.

Just by reading this blog you have somehow affected my life and gleamed a little insight in to the truly mental world in which I dick-around. (Yes I comically call this work?)

Just wanted to make sure that all of my friends know that my communications may (or may not) be down, but will certainly be limited from today onwards.

On Wednesday I'm making my first ever trip to the USA. I'm flying Newcastle to Heathrow, after a 4-hour wait I'll be 'leaving on a jet-plane' to Philadelphia.

I'd love to take you with me. So I'm going to be transforming myself in to a little blue-bird and Twittering updates right across the pond, live from the event.

Remember that in 'Philly', as us locals call it (ha!), we are 5 hours behind UK time.

YES I will still be answering emails but predict that this will happen at 12midday UK-time and of course my trusty side-kick Amanda will be sitting at the head of the table in my leather chair surrounded by fonts of gold, in my absence.

Were you on crack?

As promised, here is the photo that was taken at the Give Tilly A Hand charity ball where celeb Richard Fleeshman, Bad Lashes and I shared the bill. (I actually smiled in the moment before the picture was taken, honestly!)

It's not even a whole 2 days since we stopped the daily blog and already I'm getting emails from people saying they're having withdrawal symptoms. You're too kind!

Yes the "Daily" is over. I'm going to take a mini-break and then I'll be back in no time at all with an all new, shiny, weekly show (for which we still don't have a title, any ideas?).

Between times, YES I am still giving the daily inspirational tip on Twitter at 2pm each day and am still updating with installments about life and goings on.

As persuaders we're often doing the chasing, we're persuading a potential partner, chasing a client to part with his cash, trying to coax our buddy in to getting the drinks in etc etc...

Herein lies our problem. In order to persuade with great effect we need to shift the roles around. We need to look for ways to change things so they are chasing us, to buy from us, to get our numbers and to buy our drinks. HOW?

Aha- this is where it gets exciting. If you saw me in a bar at the weekend you might come over and say 'hi' right? We'd probably talk about the mad antics on the blog, gigs, your work, I'd ask you what I could add to the blog in order to make significant changes in your life and we'd have fantastic fun. Would you buy me a drink? It's more than likely that you would.

Later today, in the vlog (that's the techno-geek name for Video Blog) we'll start discussing why you would be so inclined. AND I'll show you what else I'd do in order to force you in to rushing to the bar and get the drinks in.

Hancock Museum, Full Review

You look back at your childhood and remember fond memories of school trips. One of mine was of the Hancock Museum, Newcastle.

The museum has been closed for refurbishment for a long while, until recently. Today I excitedly bound up the stone steps to see what excitement lay in wait. After all, the TV adverts and all the billboards had built up one hell of an experience and day out.

Well the whole thing was disappointing, and that seemed to be the feeling for almost every patron in the building. Tyne and Wear Museums have obviously been living in the prehistoric ages for far to long. Here's a quick breakdown of the terrible experience today:

1. Lack of innovation. The world has so much technology available to us now. Look at the incredible Dinosaurs Live event presented by the Walking With Dinosaurs people that is on tour right now. It's incredible. That's how Hancock should have done it.

Instead we have the same old bones to walk round. No thought, no use of the modern world. It's as if the technology hadn't evolved in the time the place was closed.

2. Glass Cases. Yes the natural environment of every tiger, buffalo and giraffe? No thought appears to have been applied to how to display these otherwise ordinary animals, stuffed and piled high to the ceiling.

3. 'I've seen a sheep before and it was a real one' for some reason we had to venture all the way from Northumberland to the Hancock to see a stuffed replica of a sheep. Oh and not forgetting the seagulls.

4. Same cack. It seems that the Hancock also decided that we all need to see the same relics of the Egyptian era that they stocked years ago. The same ones that are as intimate in the text books because, although many are replicas...once again they're behind glass cases.

5. 'Free my arse...' to quote a man I overheard today. The posters clearly display how the whole thing is a free attraction. They lure you in and guess what? The star attraction, the Planiterium is not so free at all.

Overall...I had the option of watching my sister paint my Neice's bedroom wall. Watching her use a new air brush would have been more stimulating, used more intellect and generally would have been more fun. A total waste of a day. I must point out that I really tried to enjoy it.

Harry Potter was good though. Go and see then walk straight past the Hancock (not to Great Tyne and Wear) Museum.

Little Jimmy is at school one Wednesday. Whilst gazing out of the window over the playground he sees his father drive by with Aunt Julie in the passenger seat.

The breaktime bell rings and so Little Jimmy decides to go follow them and say 'hi'. Jimmy's Dad drives in to the nearby woods. Jimmy runs to catch them up. As he reaches the woods, Jimmy notices his Dad kissing Aunt Julie.

Little Jimmy stands and watches before running home.

"Mummy, mummy," he starts to relate the story, "I followed Dad and Aunt Julie in to the woods by my school at break time and saw Dad kissing Aunt Julie. Then He helped her off with her top, and she helped him off with his bottoms, then..."

Jimmy's mother interrupted. "Jimmy, stop right there. Why don't you tell us all this story over dinner when you're Dad is back. I'm sure his reaction will be worth the wait."

Little Jimmy waits. Dinner time comes and the entire family is seated around the table. "Oh Jimmy, didn't you have a story to tell your father," Mum enquired.

"Yes. I followed Dad and Aunt Julie in to the woods and saw them kissing. Then Dad helped Aunt Julie off with her shirt and she helped him off with his trousers. Then...well then they did that thing that Mum and the postman do when Dad's away on the rigs"

Sometimes its good just to listen. We are born with 2 ears and only 1 mouth. There's a reason for that.

2 Big Questions You Always Wanted Answered About NLP...

This mind-technology that is sweeping the world seems to have no limits, but what can Neuro-Linguistic-Programming really achieve? What's all this about 'presuppositions' and other gawky lingo?

What the heck is it anyway?
As the name suggests, it is a combination of psychological principles where the fundamental understanding is that the things that happen in our brains (the neurons that make them) are linked with our language. Not just our spoken words but our none verbal language too. Our internal language and physical gestures.
Finally the 'Programming' bit is the concept that, just like the computer you sit at right now, our brains can be programmed and re-programmed. Incredibly, NLP believes that this programming of our brains can be done through our language.

So, What Can Be Done With It?
A lot, to be honest. Any time you think or feel anything, you can change that reaction. So the fact you're afraid of spiders is just a programme in your mind, it can be changed. So yes self improvement, confidence, phobias, addictions such as smoking can all be changed.

However more interestingly, you can use the techniques to change others. So if you want someone to feel more positive, motivated and excited you can use the principles to induce that state of mind.

In fact one guy has even taken it to the extreme by applying NLP to the 'art' of seduction. So it's even possible to find the perfect partner using these techniques. (he actually has a free book on this subject here)

I've also used it to increase the response to advertising, marketing, web videos, podcasts and the like. Basically when there is a situation when you'd like to change the thought process and emotional presponse to a situation, almost any situation NLP can be used.

It's not half as complicated as the 'gurus' will have you believe. NLP is basically the idea that the way we feel about things, the emotions and mood can be changed through the use of language. Simples.

9 Essentials of a Successful Partnership Relationship

Today I'm delighted to bring you a guest blog-post from author and managerial master-mind Dr Colin Thompson. Colin and I met at a conference in Barcelona a few years ago where we were both speaking. Now, over to Dr Colin Thompson:

The cornerstones and foundation for building a successful team becomes dependent upon the integrity and personalities of the people involved This is why it is so critical to take the time to carefully explore the way forward.

Once a solid foundation exists for the relationship, the careful design of the elements that will form the structure of the partnership becomes critical.

Now I would like to take you on to these critical partnership steps, one by one;

Common Objectives
As in all team activities, the common objectives need to be clearly defined and understood by each participant. Partners should know their responsibilities to the partner and what the other expectations are.
On-going
A solid relationship will be refined over time. The partners do not rest on past successes, but strive to improve the quality of the partnership. Over time, a closeness should develop that will allow companies in the partnership to maximise their operating efficiencies. A continuing review and follow up process must be taken seriously by all parties concerned, with an eye towards long-term growth and profits.
Commitment and Resources
All parties must make commitments of employee time, skills and finances. These commitments cannot be lopsided. The `gives and gets` must benefit all the parties equally.
Requirement Defined
What is required from each partner, must be clearly defined and agreed upon by all parties. Careful consideration must be given as to what exactly will be required in return for each benefit. Agreements to these requirements do little good, without a clearly spelt out performance review process. The agreements should also detail communication channels and procedures.
Commitment to Share Information
Mis-information, incomplete information, exaggerated claims and false promises are all breaches of faith. In a true partnership, each partner is committed to providing the other with full and complete information on plans, progress and problems. Critical to the partnering concept is the teamwork needed to develop new concepts, new marketing campaigns and new employee training programmes.
Shared Risks
It is un-realistic to expect that a partnering relationship does not carry risks and that some of the programmes of development within the partnership may fail, or have longer payback periods than anticipated. Quality controlled problems (issues) may occur, and employee turnover may cause temporary setbacks. Partners must have a clear understanding that risk taking is present, and each must be willing to support the other, for the mutual benefits of the partnership. Procedures must be agreed upon from the beginning. On how to handle exceptions and problems (issues) as they arise. Any financial risks involved must be clearly delineated and agreements must be reached on how those risks may be shared.
Mutual Profit
If the partners share the risks of the partnership, then they should also share the profits. Partnerships are established for mutual profits. Problems (issues) arise, though, when the process to obtain the growth and profits has not been defined and the measurement tools have not been installed to monitor each other’s performance. All cost savings and cost avoidance that occur from the implementation of the plans of the agreement which should be shared.
Technology Exchange
One of the greatest benefits partners can have is achieved by bringing information to each other. Example: The manufacture must be able to rely on the specialist for feed back on the changing needs of the customer. The specialist must be prepared to keep abreast of how technology is changing the office environment and to work with the manufacturer on modifying existing products or creating new products suited for use with new technologies, The specialist must become a part of the manufacturing/customer design team.

A joint effort, helps to ensure that the product is what the customer needs, and that the quality will meet, or exceed expectations.

The exchange of technology information can also enhance the training process for partnering companies. The manufacturer who has installed new equipment can provide the specialists employees with an understanding of how improvements to products can be made using the new technology. Product ideas can flow from this type of exchange.
Don’t Compete

Partners cannot form a solid relationship if they work too closely to each other’s competitors, or if they compete directly with each other. In the `Print Management Service` industry a specialist needs several partners, because one manufacturer is unable to produce all the products a specialist sales team requires.

However, a partnering relationship cannot be sound, if the specialist ` Print Management Service` company relationships with several manufactures that essentially produce the same products. This puts the relationship back to the bid/buy level of purchasing.

Conclusion

The partnership process cannot be developed overnight. Rushing into these arrangements can result in a great deal of harm to all parties. Each agreement needs to be considered on its own merits and carefully built upon one block at a time.

One strong working relationship should be used as a model upon which to build others, in the future. It stands to reason, therefore, that the selection of the first partner is most critical. The time and effort extended in the selection process should not be short changed.

Partnership sourcing is not a rigid management technique, but all its variations have one tenet, customers and supplies are in the same business – to make a net profit they should be working together. Why should there be a loser in a trading agreement?

Partnership sourcing is both radical and plain good sense. It is already helping businesses of all sizes reach world class capability and competitiveness; it is a potent combination – and one necessary for survival in today’s business climate.

How This Wedding Created Cringes: Seeing Was Believing

The wedding party at Matfen Hall in Northumberland last night didn't know what was in-store for them when they invited me to perform during the evening reception.

The show kicked off at 8:30 and had everyone in the room, even the kids sitting forward in their chairs and laughing their frocks off.

I realised very quickly that thinking on my feet is something I've learned to do over the past few years of live performance as any slightly risqué jokes had to be modified to play over the heads of the small number of children there.

The finale of the show where staple guns are fired at my head had women cringing and men bracing themselves, faces covered. Down tot he final 2 guns, one loaded with staples and the other empty I had convinced myself that I'd gotten it wrong.

Standing there centre stage, I was wondering how it would feel to have an industrial staple fired in to my face. The woman pulled the trigger and BANG...

I was fine. Sometimes we just have to trust ourselves.

The applause resonated around the room as the show ended and the number of people wanting to speak with me afterwards was phenomenal.

It just goes to show that by adding some unique, exciting entertainment to something like a wedding, really can make an incredible difference to how everyone remembers your big day.

3 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Corporate Entertainment

The world is in plague. The economy. Swine flu. Jerry Springer. It's all going horribly wrong. Of course the first industry we might imagine gets hit is entertainment. In particular the corporate entertainment, must be having a tough time right? Nope and for 3 very important reasons.

1. MORALE

The Problem: We need to make people happy. While the buddy they shared the desk with for the past 28 years packs his desk away into an old tea chest and an soap box, morale in many work-places could be low...low, low.

The Solution: Many sensible companies are realising that the staff who they have kept through these times must be working extremely efficiently. If their there are feelings of insecurity and uncertainty then the risk to their company is much greater. So they are putting on staff appreciation events on to show just how much they do appreciate every member of their team in seeing them through thesae tough times.

2. TRAINING MUST GO ON

The Problem: There is a danger that in all this cutting back we stop the professional development of our staff. Of course the sensible are realising that the truth is that our fewer numbers need to be more highly skilled than ever. More flexibility. So training setting dyas aside for training is esential.

The Solution: Research has repeatedly shown that in order to have people participate in activies that are less thaty desireable we must dangle a carrot. One extremely effective method for this is the promise of a really great 'social' at the end of the day's training. It gives a great motivation to put immense effort in to the aquisition of these new skills.

3. ACTIVE BEATS PASSIVE

The Problem: The entertainment we have should have a far greater perceived value than ever. Every pound and dollar counts right now.

The Solution: Passive forms of entertainment such as background musicians and other things people talk over and ignore can be placed on a back-burner. Instead, active, engaging entertainment should be chosen. For example a comedian who guests must stop and engage with. This kind of entertainment (I call active entertainment because we actively involve ourselves in) is seen as highly valuable and has been seen to last longer in our guests' memories.

Don't Make These 3 Mistakes When Asking Your Boss for a Pay Rise

You work your behind off don't you? A few extra pounds a month would help make things a little easier right now wouldn't it? You deserve a pay-rise, right?

Well if you're going to ask for a wage increase then you only really get one chance. Here's a few tips of what real people have done, thinking they'd get a pay-rise and...well, you guessed it, they received something quite different:

1. Loads More Sales. Just goes to show how narrow some bad managers are. Someone I know was a little strapped for cash. Working in direct tele-sales he thought he'd work super-hard for a month and then ask his boss for a wage increase. Boss' response..."you did it for a month already on that wage so you can keep doing it." Short sighted, I think so.

2. Sleeping with the Boss' wife (or husband). Talk about reverse psychology. A bloke from London right here in the UK, thought he would get 'close to the boss' wife' so that she would put in a good word for him. The result? Boss finds out, divorces her, fires the man and our bright young hero never sees his boss' wife again.

3. Singing in the workplace. In 2007 a woman decided she wanted to 'bring some Christmas cheer' in to her place of work in an attempt to super-size her winter bonus. Where Do I Get My Inspiration...Exposed!

The philosophies I discuss in my training sessions and speaking engagements are certainly not restricted to the platform. Among friends I'm known as the one guy they can come to to receive inspiration, to alter their perception of situations and give them new ways of looking at things.

Why Am I Pleased To Have Watched a Horse Being Killed Last Night and To Have Vomited?

First of all, the great news is that the show at the Lancastrian Suite on May 1st this year IS going ahead. Thank you for your support. The venue holds a whopping 700+ people so we look forward to filling those up now that we've passed the break-even milestone.

Why AM I in shock?
Last night on BBC2 at 10pm was a documentary on the Horse People, a bunch of folk in the east who rear and breed horses. I'm fascinated with other cultures and as you know I am seriously difficult to offend. I just love 'sick' humour. However last night really pushed my buttons.

At one point in the documentary it is decided by the Horse People that a particular member of their herd, whom they have raised since birth, was of no use because it wasn't giving young. The solution was that they'd kill it and use it for meat.

I'm cool with that. My uncle is a farmer, I know the way of the world. However the film-makers then proceeded to show the horse people chasing the terrified animal around the yard to put a noose around it's neck.

The end of the rope is tied to a pole and pulled tight to strange the horse to the point of collapse. This was horrific.

Following that she was beaten to death with an axe to the skull.

Why Am I Pleased I Watched It?
It's strange that I was talking to the Chief Executive of the 'Life' children's charity straight after the event back in March about this exact thing subject.

I think it is a good thing to see things that push your buttons, grind your gears and even upset you. It sounds strange but it's true that it is always good to see where you own personal boundries are. We live in day-to-day comfort, sheltered from things that offend and hurt us. Every now and again its good to see things and think 'i am really not comfortable with that' because then you realise that you do have boundries.

Last night really showed the edge of my comfort zone. It really does stop at the abuse of animals.

It's all a matter of how you choose to look at things. In my act for example I do try and push people's buttons a little, no I dont slay anyone on-stage but some of the jokes are near the nuckle and in particular the fact that I have a staple gun shot in to my face - that is very much about allowing people to expeirence their own comfort zones.

Think about how people regularly choose to experience these 'edges' by goign on terrifying rides at theme parks, parachuting and even spending nights in terrifying places.

My Numbers Up

It's a dream, you know when you're young and you're off out with your parents to 'Dad's Work Do'? You turn up in your best Garfield jumper and jeans, younger sister in a white dress with a bow. You're wearing your dad's after-shave and in you go.

You walk up the grand steps and in to the building. The room is enormous, the stage is colossal and the atmosphere buzzing.

The room is packed with party-goers all having a great time.

The entertainment starts, it's hillarious, everyone is cheering and having a ball. Then later the disco starts. you recall mum dancing to 'Baby Love' with women she's never met before but bitched about for years. Then the slow dance comes on and you see your mum and dad doing disgusting things that make you and sister alike want to puke.

I was 10 years old and that place stayed in my memory as somewhere I'd dream of performing. On May 1st this year I'm booked to do just that. The Lancastrian Suite in Dunston, Gateshead (near the metro-centre) and better still the second half of the show is my closest friend in the world, comedy hypnotist Robert Temple.

The bad news is...if we don't sell a further 200 tickets by Wednesday of this week we're cancelling the event. Yep. And myu childhood dream will be crushed.

Let's be frank now, you've been reading a few of these blogs now and you know how much performing means to me. The tickets are under a tenner and include supper, my show of psychological trickery and comedy, Rob hypnotising people and making you laugh until a little bit of wee comes out, and then a disco until the wee hours.

Like I say, I've dreamt of performing on that stage in that very room but that will be ripped from us if we don't sell 200 more seats before Wednesday.

I receive a lot of mail asking whether what I do is 'real'? It's a strange one because you are intelligent enough to realise that when I am performing I am not really reading anyone's minds. In the same way when I make a prediction I am not seeing in tot he future. After all, if that were my ability I'd be using it for far more devious things than entertaining at events.

So what do I think of 'real' psychics? The truth be known I detest them and everything they stand for. I believe I'm using the self same techniques as them only I'm doing so much more honestly than they are.

Many of them, rather than telling fortunes and relaying detailed stories from people's pasts are simply regurgitating a trolly-load of generic statements which anyone and everyone will find ways to make fit their own lives and experiences. It is not this that infuriates me.

The most infuriating thing about these people who claim to see the future is the fact they prey on the vulnerable. I wouldn't mind them spouting their lies and deception if they were just talking to every-day people but the fact that they use their skills on those who are suffering bereavement is just sad and to be honest should be illegal.

A man rightly gets arrested if he takes advantage of a lady on a night out if shes under the influence of some kind of drug. The reason for this is that she is not actually able to give consent to the act. The same is true for a psychic giving readings for those who morn their loved ones. They are at risk and emotions exposed.

I'm really on my high horse about this one as its near and dear to my heart. Here's a video of a psychic being exposed...EXCELLENT:

There Are Only 25 Letters in the Alphabet

I'm serious about this. I've been spending a lot of time thinking. I must take after my Dad for that, he's always getting in to trouble for 'thinking too much'. Bless him.

Do you not agree that there is one letter of the alphabet too many? That we cold do with just 25 letters instead of 26? After much thought (there's that thinking) I have come to the conclusion that we could operate perfectly well without the letter 'x'.

I'd like to know if you can come up with a single way that our language would suffer if we didn't have it. Think about the word in the children's Letters Book we use. We learn 'a is for apple' and 'b is for ball'. 'x is for xylophone'. Really? I reakon we could replace the letter 'x' with a 'z' in this case. In most cases this little letter can be substituted with the letters 'cs'.

For example the lovely chocolate biscuit Twix. Twics would sound the same. X-ray would be Ecsray. In fact we'd elimenate a lot of hyphens too. I cant think of a single example of a word that just woudn't work if this letter was made extinct.

Any ideas?

Sinking the Answer

Before we head on in to the answer to the quote question I set the other day, just wanted to say a huge thank you for the masses of support and amazing feedback from the show on Friday. Great news is that we're meeting later today to look at more dates and events throughout 2009.

Lots of replies and things came pouring in to the question I posed. Which movie contains the phrase "If you don't shut that hole in your face". The answer is that in the scene where the passengers are filling the lifeboats, Robert Hitchins shouts at Molly Brown "yes and there will be one less on this boat if you dont shut that hole in your face" in the massive blockbuster movie, Titanic.

Everyone is Stupid

We really say and do crazy things. I'm sure we all have things in our past that we look back on and say 'that was just stupid'. Just today my father made me a sausage sandwich. "What you want on it?"

"Ketchup please" I reply. Yet when it comes out of the kitchen and I'm about to take a bite in to that steaming hot thing I notice that while there is ketchup on the sausage, there is margarine on the bread.

"Awww why did you have to go and put marge on the bread?"

"Just eat it, you can't taste it" came the reply. Isn't it a crazy thing to say? If you can't taste it then WHY would you put it on anything, ever? Of course you can taste the creamy nasty fat riddled cack spoiling good food.

I'm off to make another sandwich. What a day!

Change is happening at Kennedy Towers. On March 12th we're running away from the mine field that is Windows Vista and moving to Ubuntu, a new Operating System. Yesterday's video showed us how a man who has such great power and must communicate that power with millions across a nation - can screw it up. We're all human. I've been on stage and accidently said something that changed what I said from what I intended in to something crazy and stupid. I think the more you speak, the more chance you have of having this happen to you.

I just wondered if you faithful blog readers would like to share your stories of the cock-ups you've made when speaking. I'll postb mine tomorrow.

Have a think just now, when you've been talkign to someone else, it doesn't need to be a bit group and you were meant to say one thing and it come out completely wrong and made you feel like a fool.

As you've probably noticed, I have been pushing the after dinner speaking side of my work recently. I really enjoy taking the skills I have learned in both psychology and in creating engaging presentations to address subjects that are at the core of business needs.

I've been receiving a bunch of emails from people asking what on earth this "Keynote Speaker or After Dinner Speaker all about," so I thought rather than continue answering each message separately I will address is here for all to see.

As you will know, companies large and small around the world hold conferences, training days and dinners to focus staff of all levels on to a specific subject or matter. After a full day's training with senior managers or HR staff on this topic it is a great idea to have a professional after dinner or keynote speaker come in and pull the day together.

WHY? There are a bunch of reasons that organisations (of all sizes) have identified the need for having this external speaker. The first is that a professional keynote speaker will bring a whole host of skills to the 'party' that might otherwise be over-looked. Since he (or she) is coming in to the company from an outside perspective their account of the subject matter will be different.

Often when we work in a business we are too 'close' to it and it's functions to see things objectively. A professional keynote speaker brings that wider perspective in to play.

Another major function of having a professional come in and consolidate particular themes is the background and experience in transforming even the most mundane of topics in to exciting, humerus and fascinating insights. For example I have a keynote speech I deliver on Team Building.

Team work has been talked about until it's coming out of most executive's ears. I guarantee you it has never been addressed in the way I approach it. Literally getting inside of each other's minds and knowing what they're thinking.

Team Work is just one of the more obvious themes of my presentations, you can bet your bottom dollar that a good keynote speaker will be able to bring a unique approach to almost any topic. Just the way I did when I was asked to show high-school kids how EXCITING algebra is. Yes, it's possible.

I hope that makes things a lot more clear on the whole speaking front.

The Puzzle REALLY Answered

Well I hope that you had a great weekend and that your Valentines created some lovely memories for you and your loved one. On Saturday I posed a puzzle where a woman was at a funeral and met a man whom she instantly fell in love with. They parted company without exchanging contact details and no matter how she tried, could not find the man.

A tragic tale of love. Then the scene took a rather sinister turn when the same woman later kills her sister. The question is 'why'?

This is a test that psychologists use, they layout a story just like this one and the answer reveals certain things about the subject. So be warned, if you collected answers from your friends and any one of them got it right then you might want to be wary of them. You see anyone who guesses the answer correctly is almost certainly clinically psychopathic.

The reason the woman killed her sister was to see if the man would turn up at the funeral. Only a psychopath would draw such a conclusion.

A Mental Puzzle for You

Happy Valentine's Day! Today I have a puzzle themed around a tragic love story, I'll share the answer with you on Monday.

This is not a trick question. All of the details are there, there is no fancy wordplay or double meanings at all.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a man who she didn't know. She thought the guy was 'incredible'. She believed him to be her dream partner so much, that she fell in love with him right there, love at first sight. She forgot to ask for his phone number and could no matter how hard she tried could not find a way to track him down. A few days later she killed
her sister.

Kontroversial Kennedy is Jaded

It's a turning point. Today I am going to speak my mind. I usually like to sugar coat things and perhaps today will shock you, maybe it will offend you but it will get a reaction from you and bubble some feelings inside. A risk I am willing to take.

Please do read this all the way through, don't dip in and out otherwise you won't understand my reasoning.

Would you agree with me that integrity and honesty are among the most important traits of any person? I certainly think so. In opposition to what most would say, the deceitful and dishonest are in the minority. Most people are decent and thoughtful. Yes we have all met people who will rip you off, take you for a ride and just generally screw us over but in the main we are surrounded by great people whom we put a lot of trust in.

The most important thing when being trusted is to maintain that integrity and not have gaping holes in your supposed truths. The thing I am getting at is the unfortunate incident with Jade Goody. It is always sad when you hear of anyone developing such a frightful illness as cancer. I have no doubt that right now she is going through a whole host of unimaginable trauma.

That said, I was not a fan of her before she developed this and so am not going to be so low as to suddenly become her biggest fan. Pretty much the way the mass media has. One minute she's on every talk-show and front page for being a racist bigot and the next everyone is her biggest fan.

What's more, Jade is ever the attention seeker. If I was suffering from a life threatening illness then I can assure you the last thing I'd want is publicity. I'd want all of my strength to fight the disease. So why on earth would you have the top PR man in the UK, Max Clifford go on major talk shows to talk about you and support you?

I just don't understand, it really rattled my cage and I wasn't going to say anything but it upsets me so much that she'd even take this severe illness and use it as a way to try and make the world like her again, even after all of those disgusting things she said in the past.

Am I out of line? Have I got totally the wrong end of the stick?

The Week Behind Us

Last night I headed out in to Newcastle town centre with a bunch of fellow entertainers. It was great fun as random members of the group dropped to the floor under the influence of hypnosis and were caused to forget their names, find strangers attractive and even convince themselves that they had 11 fingers.

This week has been one of meetings and setting up projects in the main. Yesterday alone we added over 100 miles to the clock, visiting various places. I'm very pleased that tickets for the Centre for Life, Newcastle event on March 6th is selling fantastically well.

Today's is a short blog, I'm extremely tired and no matter how much tea and Redbull I throw down my neck my eyes feel ever sleepier.
